Chords in the Key of C

By now, you already know the formula for finding major chords in piano layout. You also understands the major scale formula. It is high time now to learn and understand the chords that can be found in the key of C. Understanding chords in the key of C, as well as in other keys, will help you understand the reasons behind major chords progressions.

Now, if we remind ourselves of the C major scale, we would recall that, the C major scale contains the following notes; C D E F G A B C. There are two guidelines however that can be used in revealing required chords. First, each of the chords in the key of C must be named after these mentioned notes.   • V – G major

In this consideration therefore, Clearly, the basic chords in the key of C  major are C major, D minor, E minor, F major, G major, A minor, and B diminished.
